Get an inside look at one of Aotearoa’s most significant heritage and seismic retrofit projects on a public building. Our social and cultural infrastructure is important to creating amenity, particularly in a densified housing environment. The redevelopment of Te Whare Whakarauika | Wellington Town Hall has reached a major milestone, with most of the complex seismic strengthening works now complete—including a state-of-the-art base isolation system and a new foundation structure beneath this iconic building.
The next phase focuses on restoring key heritage spaces, including the renowned auditorium and debating chamber, alongside the construction of a new annex building to house front-of-house amenities. Once complete, the Town Hall will be a world-class music and civic venue, home to the NZSO, the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī, and a hub of cultural and civic activity in the heart of Wellington.
